Anniversary Message

Professor Ts. Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib
Vice Chancellor

10 January 2022 is a significant date for UTP as it marks the university’s 25th anniversary. 25 years is relatively a time scale for any university to make its mark but for UTP it has indeed become a significant landmark in its history. From just a humble teaching institution to a leading research-intensive university with a 6-star MyRa and SETARA rating and top 100 QS Asia in its name. From a modest campus consisting of temporary buildings to an Aga Khan award winner for its magnificent Chancellor Complex. From a small group of less than 100 students to a total of more than 21,000 alumni that has now carried the UTP brand. It has been a magnificent achievement!

Commemorating its silver jubilee, UTP is entering a new phase in the journey Towards Sustainable Global Prominence. The University is committed to go above and beyond in order to create value for its students, staff and other stakeholders. Moving into the future, UTP’s will continue with its strategic goals of building higher global recognition for its forward-looking and future proof academic programmes and innovative research through more intense collaboration with academic and industry partners globally. The University is also striving hard to transform and alleviate its campus experiences to provide the best stimulating environment with the help of technology whilst at the same time creating life challenging activities to ensure holistic development of the students.

In the last 25 years, UTP has achieved so much and transformed so many lives. The collective successes, achievements, commendations and recognitions seemed to affirm that UTP is taking the right steps and is making good headway towards its goals. These would not have been possible without the guidance from PETRONAS and the past and present leadership of UTP’s comprising of its Chancellors and Pro Chancellors, board members, Vice Chancellors and its management committee. Their experience, influence and guidance cannot be overstated. At the heart of it, UTP past and present staff and students who have supported the university whole heartedly, making sacrifice for the progress of the university.

The university is where it is today, thanks to their support and assistance.
