The last mile refers to the final leg of a journey, which involves transporting people and goods from a transportation hub to their ultimate destination. It also encompasses the challenges of facilitating the movement of individuals from a transportation hub, particularly railway stations, bus depots, and ferry berths, to their final destinations. Various solutions have been proposed to tackle the last mile problem in public transit, including the use of feeder buses, bicycle infrastructure, and urban planning reforms. Alternative methods like bicycle-sharing systems, car-sharing programs, pod cars (personal rapid transit), and motorized shoes have been suggested, albeit with varying degrees of adoption. This design competition aims to effectively address this problem by generating multiple viable solutions in the form of cost-effective, portable, compact, and lightweight personal transport systems for the last mile.
