Progress Meeting at Vietnam Maritime University, in Hai Phong Vietnam (15 February 2023 – 17 February 2023). 

​​

The progress meeting was conducted at Vietnam Maritime University (VMU) in Hai Phong, Vietnam from 15 February 2023 till 17 February 2023. The meeting involves participation in seminars on curriculum development, discussion on methodology and appropriate governance arrangements for mobility and joint reparticipationticipate in the workshop on the Enterprise-Academy connection on the MARE theme, evaluation of the TLM development, and discussions on current activities and upcoming activities. The meeting started with a welcoming speech by Dr. Tran The Nam with the summary of the activities, meeting agenda, and logistics arrangement throughout the three days event. The meetinprovidesde a platform for all partner institutions to build a network of connections with other partners in both academic and scientific research activities.

Dr. Anton Shkaruba and Prof. Igor chaired the Project Meeting  

The workshop session on 16th February 2023 comprised of presentations by the partner universities. There are 9 research projects presented, which cover the practical implementation of solutions for sustainable environment development and business connection as follows: 

  1. Promotion for University – Enterprises connection: A case study of VMU, presented by Dr. Tran Duc Phu (VMU). 
  2. Stakeholders involvement in the process of the ICZM and Marine Spatial Planning - Estonian case study, presented by Lagle Lõhmus (EMU). 
  3. Industries–Universities Collaboration Experience in Malaysia, presented by Prof. Ir. Dr. Shaharin Anwar Sulaiman (UTP). 
  4. Enterprise-Academy-Community connection: some lessons learned from Can Tho university (Vietnam), presented by Dr. Lê Anh Tuấn (CTU). 
  5. Strategic academia-business partnerships in the fields of Civil Engineering and Architecture, presented by Daniele La Rosa (UNICT). 
  6. Building the Future with Damen, presented by Mr. Joris Van Tienen (Damen Shipyard). 
  7. Role of MCD as an NGO in promoting formulation and application of public-private-people partnership (4P) in sustainable development of coastal and marine areas, presented by Ms. Ho Thi Yen Thu (MCD). 
  8. Action-Based Learning approach in Higher Education Institutions, presented by Till Rümenapp (UNIHB). 
  9. Affordable Cloud-based Water Quality Conditions Monitoring & Tracker System, presented by Dr. Shamila Azman (UTM). 



 

Presentation by Prof. Ir. Dr. Shaharin Anwar Sulaiman on the Industries – Universities Collaboration Experience in Malaysia  

After the workshop, the representatives of VMU and all MARE members visited some of the facilities of VMU, a simulator training room, training ship VMU VIET-KOREA, and the Deep C Industrial Zone and Lach Huyen Port of Hai Phong City. The visits provide exposures to all members on the comprehensive view of maritime activities and the sustainable development of marine environment in Vietnam. On the last day of the meeting, 17th February 2023, the host organized a field trip to Halong Bay for all MARE partners.
