Notes:

• ​The above fees for Research are on an annual basis. However, the fees will be aggregated and charged every semester
• RM3000 refundable personal bond, or deposit is required from all international students.
• All fees are correct at the time of this page for the current intake year. The Management of UTP reserves the right to revise fees as and when required.​

 

Please note that the commitment fee is part of tuition fees, which will be forfeited if applicants fail to register at the University or withdraw from the programme after registration.

Other Matters for Consideration ​

Candidates are advised to prepare sufficient funds to cover the following expenses:    

• Hostel rental of approximately RM160 per month
• Food and beverage cost of approximately RM500 per month
• Purchase of a personal laptop if do not previously own one
• Transportation costs
   

Financial Assistance

    i) UTP Graduate Assistantship Scheme (GA)​

 

How to apply?

1)Select your research area or topic from the given list ONLY

Note

1. For those who are applying for the UTP Graduate Assistance Scheme (GA), the selection of your research area must be from the list (Topics together with the Subtopics) as per the attachment given. Applicants with research areas not within the listed Topics & Subtopics are not eligible for the GA scheme. Sample: Topic (Liquid Biofuel) & Subtopics (Biodiesel)
2. Candidate must obtain a final CGPA of 3.00/4.00 (Msc Research/Coursework mode) or have published a minimum of one publication ranked in Q1 or Q2 (PhD Research Mode) to be eligible to apply for the GA scheme. 

3. For any application submitted before the 5th of each month, the result may be released earliest by the second week of the upcoming month.

Requirements

1)Minimum CGPA 3.00 (of 4.00) or equivalent

2)Pass English requirements with a minimum score of:

i)Engineering: IELTS (5.0) or TOEFL (500)

ii)Non-Engineering: IELTS (6.0) or TOEFL (550)

3)Meeting UTP entry requirements​​

• For full-time research students only
• Covers tuition fee (Research Progression Fee ONLY) and research methodology.
• Student to pay for Resources Fee (RM2,400 annually for Full-Time mode) and Viva Voce Fee.
• Registration, accommodation and transportation costs are not covered and is to be borne by students
• Candidates will be assigned 6 hours of academic activities per week in the form of tutorials or laboratory demonstrations or any other related academic activities
• Candidates will be required to perform 22 research days per month
• Monthly subsistence allowance
• MSc Student: RM1,800.00
• PhD Student: RM2,300.00​

     ii) UTP Graduate Research Assistantship Scheme (GRA)

• For full-time research student only
• Minimum CGPA of 3.00/4.00.
• Covers tuition fee (Research Progression Fee ONLY) and research methodology.
• Student to pay for Resources Fee (RM2,400 annually for Full-Time mode) and Viva Voce Fee.
• Registration, accommodation and transportation costs are not covered and is to be borne by students
• Candidates will be assigned 6 hours of academic activities per week in the form of tutorials or laboratory demonstration or any other related academic activities
• Candidates will be required to perform 22 research days per month
• Monthly subsistence allowance
• MSc Student: RM1,800.00
• PhD Student: RM2,300.00
   

iii) Employee Provident Fund (EPF) Withdrawal Scheme for Malaysian students only covering tuition fee

• Malaysian only
• Full Time student (research/coursework)
• Part Time student (research/coursework)
