Groom to Lead : UTP's Interns Undergo Leadership Training at GE in Florence, Italy (23 Oct 2009)

General Electric (GE), a company which was established by Thomas Edison (the electric lamp inventor); recently had selected 3 UTP students to undergo a 3-month leadership training at its learning institute in Florence, Italy. For Muhammad Yusuf Hashim (Petroleum Engineering), Dan Hui Xuan (Petroleum Engineering) and Aaron Lai Ser Chun (Civil Engineering), it is indeed a privilege to have such an opportunity to be taught and exposed on business best practices and corporate governance by global top company for leadership. In addition to that, the three students are also experiencing the real works in process engineering, manufacturing, project management and technical support.

Prior to departure to Italy, the students were based in GE Oil & Gas in KLCC where they worked on technical proposal development for PETRONAS project (Kebabangan). Muhammad Yusuf was given the task to go offshore and worked in Supply Base in Labuan where he managed the operation and project execution first hand alongside with other experienced engineers and contractors from Schlumberger and Halliburton.
