Iftar With PETRONAS at Masjid An-Nur UTP (10 Sep 2009)
Organising Iftar gatherings in conjunction with Ramadan, has become a tradition practised throughout the PETRONAS Group every year. This is a way to strengthen ties with the local community and ease the burden of the needy, so that everyone would be able to enjoy a more meaningful Aidil Fitri.
On 10 September 2009 / 20 Ramadan 1430H, PETRONAS held an Iftar gathering in Perak at Masjid An-Nur, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), hosted by YBhg Datuk Nasarudin Md Idris, Vice President, Corporate Planning & Development Division PETRONAS.
In the spirit of sharing and giving, the gathering saw a turnout of more than 2000 guests, including 40 less fortunate members of the community from nearby areas such as Tronoh, Kampung Bali, Kg Serkai Jadi, Kg Kurnia, Kampung Merbau and Bandar Universiti. They were treated to a delectable feast, some goodies and hari raya tokens. The special guests were obviously touched by the gesture, judging from their expressions of joy and excitement.
The evening event began with a Tazkirah Ramadan by Ustaz Dawi Cahyono of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. Later, Datuk Nasarudin and his wife, Datin Roi Hanah Hassan joined the guests to break fast together, followed by the Maghrib, Isya' and Tarawikh prayers.
Other PETRONAS operating units in Perak, namely PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad, Ipoh; PETRONAS Gas Berhad, Sitiawan; and MITCO (Japan) Sdn Bhd and KLCC Projeks Sdn Bhd (UTP Project) joined hands in organising the event. Also present were representatives from the Perak Government Departments, local authorities, members of UTP Management Committee, staff and students of UTP.
