International Student Council 2009/2010 meeting with Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (26 Oct 2009)

On 26th October 2009, UTP International Student Council High Committee (ISC) led by President Mr. Sermphon Klaiseengern, Vice President Mr. Amr Magdeldi Abdelwahid, First Secretary, Mr. Aduot Madit Anhiem, Second Secretary, Miss Isra Abbasi, Treasurer, Miss Nguyen Thi Hoai Vy and Mr. Saiful Hizam Bin Abu Zarim, Executive of International Student Unit (ISU) of Student Support Services Department, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) visited the Development & Student Affairs Division, Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MOHE) at Putrajaya.
The main objective of the meeting is to enhance integration and positive exposure amongst our UTP international students especially the International Student Council Representatives.

At MOHE, they visited the Development and Student Affairs Division. They were received by the Senior Principal Assistant Director, Tuan Haji Ibrahim Bin Ali and Miss Janet Wan, one of the officers in charge of International Students. During the meeting, Tuan Haji Ibrahim Bin Ali briefed them on its officers’ functions and responsibilities.
The office not only manages international student administration matters but also plans activities for international students studying in local and private universities in Malaysia.
Later, ISC President Mr. Sermphon has been invited to do a presentation on ISC. The presentation is about the ISC programmes/activities that were conducted from January until October 2009 and also new planned activities proposed for next year. MOHE officers were impressed and interested with the presentation.
After the presentation, they continued the discussion and exchanged ideas on how to organise programmes that can benefit international students in Malaysia. MOHE also proposed to have future collaborative programmes with UTP related to international students.
They also had the opportunity to meet the Director of Development & Student Affairs Division, Prof. Dr. Mohd Fauzi Bin Hj. Ramlan.
It was indeed an interesting experience for the international students especially the ISC High Committee since they took this program as an opportunity to learn first hand about the Malaysian Government office especially MOHE.
