Kolokium Sekretariat Rukun Negara 2009 (9 - 11 Dec 2009)
On 9 – 11 December 2009, an event named Kolokium Sekretariat Rukun Negara was held in Tiara Beach Resort, Port Dickson Negeri Sembilan Darul Khusus. This convention was participated by students from over 26 universities in Malaysia including Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS which was represented by 6 students from various programmes.
The purpose of the programme was to provide exposure in terms of management and better understanding of the objectives of Sekretariat Rukun Negara in institutes of higher learning. It is also a medium to improve the knowledge and understanding of students regarding the unity scenario in Malaysia.

The three-day program contained several talks and plenary sessions, involving prominent speakers such as Y.Bhg Datuk Prof. Dr Ramlah Adam, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lim Swee Tin, and representatives from the Ministry of Information. Generally, the subject matter presented was more towards the importance of unity amongst Malaysian and the significance of Rukun Negara.
The participants were actively involved in discussions related to the subject matter and were also given the opportunity to present their ideas in organising activities that would contribute in enhancing unity amongst different races and cultures.
The closing ceremony was officiated by YB Senator Datuk T Murugiah, Deputy Minister of Prime Minister Department who represented YB Senator Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon. In his closing speech, Datuk T. Murugiah reminded everybody to abide to the Malaysian Constituency and do not raise issues that could create inter-racial misunderstanding and he also mentioned that Malaysian citizens should not query on the social contract that had been agreed upon since Malaysian Independence Day.
