​UTP'S Achievements in IENA 2009, Nuremberg Germany (5 - 9 Nov 2009)

 

 

 

UTP research teams bagged 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals during the International Trade Fair “Idea-Inventions-New Products” (IENA 2009) held in Nuremberg, Germany from 5 – 9 November 2009. This is the 61st IENA organised and UTP participated in the exhibition for the first time by submitting 4 research works for the competition.

 

The gold medals were won by a four-member team of researchers led by Prof Ir Dr Ahmad Fadzil Mohd Hani through their work titled ‘RETINO: Computerised Diabetic Retinopathy Monitoring & Grading System’ and another team of three researchers led by Prof. Dr. P.A. Venkatachalam through their work titled "CADBE-Cad Block Estimator”.

There were about 788 products exhibited in this exhibition and came from thirty five (35) countries around the world. Six Malaysian universities including UTP participated in the exhibition. Other Malaysian universities were Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universsiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTEM).
