​Two Silver, A Bronze and a Special Award for UTP Team in The Seoul International Invention Fair 2010 (SIIF 2010) (2 - 5 Dec 2010)

The Seoul International Invention Fair 2010 (SIIF2010) which was held from 2 - 5 December 2010 in Pacific Hall, COEX, Gangnam-Gu, Samsung-Dong, Seoul, Korea has attracted 651 inventions from 36 nations.  It was organised by the Korea Invention Promotion Association (KIPA), a special corporation established under the provision of the Invention Promotion Act. It is the only organisation in Korea that has promoted invention activity since 1973. SIIF2010 was under the patronage of the Korean Intellectual Property Office and was supported internationally by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA).

 

This merit-based competition offered rewards in terms of medals, certificates and prizes for the winners. This was a wholly integrated invention fair providing inventors from all over the world with comprehensive information on the commercialisation of inventions, patent information, and technology transfer.

 

This is the first participation of UTP in SIIF. The research projects selected for SIIF 2010 were sourced from postgraduate works, Engineering & Design Exhibition (EDX) and also from ITEX competition. UTP won 2 Silver and 1 Bronze.

E-Saver is an integrated system consisting of an energy measuring device and a database management system to monitor power usage efficiently.

Body Temp Traxx

The system monitors the body temperature of fever patients remotely at nurse station using RFID and GSM systems.

 

If patient’s temperature exceeds 39ºC, alert will pop-up on computer screen and an SMS will be automatically sent to the doctor.

 

It is user friendly and can reduce workload and operation cost.

EDDi: Emergency and Disaster Digital Image

Emergency & Disaster Digital Image (EDDi) sends image through Radio Frequency. This system is able to support emergency and disaster recovery activities when other communication devices failed.

AP Dr Irraivan was also conferred The TESLA Medal Award, an award from Russian Government for the effort in energy innovation (Power Management).
