AECOL Chlorinator

The AECOL Chlorinator uses nominal amount of electrolyte for cheap and low risk disinfection of water and wastewater in continuous flow applications. It uses specialized titanium based electrodes in a special arrangement to produce free available chlorine (FAC) in water for its disinfection. The AECOL chlorinator eliminates transportation and storage of hazardous material (chlorine), eliminates risk to life and environment, does not require brine solution for free available chlorine (FAC) production, and allows low cost of production of FAC.

This is UTP’s fourth participation in this exhibition, alongside four other Malaysian universities namely Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka, Universiti Sarawak Malaysia (UniMAS), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).

This year, the exposition has brought together more than 500 innovations from 30 countries. In total, 80 companies and 30 universities and research institutions participated in the exhibition including those from Belgium, Poland, United Kingdom, Germany, Russia, Spain and China. This merit-based competition offers rewards in terms of medals, certificates and prizes for the winners.

It is hoped that by participating in this exhibition, UTP will strengthen its human capital development in R & D and encourage creativity across the university community. This exhibition also provides a platform for the research fraternity to showcase their new inventions, ideas and products, and contribute towards our journey in becoming a university that is recognised internationally as a partner for industries and a respected member of the scientific communities.
