UTP Won The Best Film (Public Service Announcement Category) in MUFORS Road Reels Short Film Awards Night 2010 (28 Jan 2011)
Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) was announced as CHAMPION during the MUFORS (Malaysians Unite for Road Safety) Road Reels Short Film Awards Night 2010 which was held on 28 January 2011 and managed to bag home a total cash prize of RM13,000.
This short advertisement entitled “Inadvertence” produced by a group of UTP students had been submitted to the 2010 MUFORS Road Reels Short Film Competition (http://www.mufors.org.my/road_reels.aspx) for the Public Service Announcement Category.

"MUFORS Road Reels" is a short film competition open to students of all universities, colleges and institutions of higher learning in Malaysia with the theme "Attitudes on Roads – A Malaysian Journey" and sponsored by PLUS Berhad.
The objectives of the competition are as below:

To provide students of institutions of higher learning a platform (i.e. producing short films) to play their part in changing negative attitudes on Malaysian roads users by capturing moments and messages that will reflect attitudes and how these attitudes are related to road accidents and deaths.

To enable students and institutions of higher learning to be part of MUFORS as agents of change in giving road safety advocacy a fresh approach by encouraging people from all walks of life to take ownership of road safety and specify “what my role is in promoting road safety and saving lives”.

The panel of jurors comprising of notable figures in the advertisement & broadcasting industries, film directors & producers, script writers, film critics, authorities & academicians have chosen “Inadvertence” from a total of 66 submissions for the Public Service Announcement category.
In addition, “Inadvertence” has also been nominated for the Best Cinematography and Best Director awards (i.e. Only 3 selected films from a total of 141 submissions from all categories are considered as nominees).
