UTP Students Received the 1Malaysia Student Discount Card (KADS1M) (13 October 2012)
Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS’ (UTP) students received their 1Malaysia Student Discount Cards (KADS1M) from YB Dato’ Tan Lian Hoe, Deputy Minister for Domestic Trade, Co-operative and Consumerism (KPDNKK) at UTP recently.
The KADS1M was initiated by the government in ensuring that students’ welfare is well taken care of by relieving their financial burden when purchasing their needs.
With the KADS1M, students can enjoy discounts of up to 60% on a wide range of items, such as food, books, stationery, sport equipment, clothing, accommodation and IT products.In his opening speech, En. Mohamed Noor Rosli Baharom, UTP Deputy Vice Chancellor, Student Affairs and Alumni representing YBhg Datuk Dr. Zainal Abidin Hj Kasim, UTP Vice Chancellor, hoped that with this card, students will not have to worry their daily cost of living and thus encourage them to excel in their studies. The government’s effort and such should be encouraged in supporting UTP’s mission in nurturing potential leaders of industry and the nation, who are creative and innovative.
At the same event, UTP also received a donation amounting RM3,000.00 from KPDNKK to be channelled to UTP’s Gerakan Pengguna Siswa.Also present at the event was YB Dr Mah Hang Soon, Health, Local Government, Consumer Affairs, Environment, Transport and non-Muslim Affairs Committee Chairman; YB Dr Mohd Nizar Hj Zakaria, Member of the Malaysian Parliament for Parit, Perak; YB Dato’ Nasarudin Hashim, Bota State Assemblyman; and YB Dato’ Hj Mohd Zaim Abu Hasan, Belanja State Assemblyman.
