Petroleum Experts Limited Donates Software Worth RM6.86 Million to UTP (9 January 2015)

Petroleum Experts Limited, an engineering company based in the United Kingdom, has donated academic licenses for its software worth £1.27 million (approximately RM6.86 million) to Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP).

This donation will provide our students with the necessary proficiency and skills, and at the same time, allow them to have the competitive advantage when entering the workforce upon graduation. These licenses will be used by students and faculty within the Faculty of Geoscience and Petroleum Engineering.

The software, which is generically known as Integrated Production Modelling (IPM), is a suite of tools which includes, GAP (Multiphase Network Optimisation), PROSPER (Well Modelling and Design)and MBAL (Reservoir Analytical Simulation), among others.

IPM is the industry standard for integrated field modelling and production optimisation and is currently used by the oil and gas industry to model dynamically their oil reservoirs, production and injection wells and surface pipeline networks as an integrated production system.
