(5 April 2017)
Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS hosted its Technology, Education, Career 2017 exhibition (TEC2017) focusing on engineering, oil, gas and energy on 5 April 2017.
The two-day annual event was officiated by Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation YB Datuk Seri Panglima Madius Tangau. Also present at the event was UTP Vice Chancellor Datuk Ir (Dr) Abdul Rahim Hashim.
The event served as a platform to help students equip themselves with the essential skills when hunting for a job. There were also career talks, interview sessions, academic seminars and job interviews. This year nearly 60 companies participated in the event which included PETRONAS and Schlumberger.
TEC2017 also provided the best platform for students from UTP and other institutions across Malaysia to better understand the challenges of the job market today. With this understanding, our students and graduates will be better prepared with the knowledge, competencies and attitude as required by employers.
Students can drop their resume at the exhibition booths and meet up with human resources personnel to express interest and interact.
Datuk Seri Madius also presented certificates to 120 students from SMK Sultan Muzaffar Shah 1 Lambor Kanan, SMK Lambor Kiri, Lambor Kanan and SMK Dato' Abdul Rahman Yaakob Bota who had successfully completed UTP CSR's programme, Educate to Innovate.
The programme was funded by MOSTI and consisted of several activities to enhance students' motivation, efficacy enrichment, academic performance, youth empowerment and career advisory.
The 17th edition of TEC was organised in conjunction with UTP 20th Anniversary Celebration. One of the major highlights of UTP 20th Anniversary was Discover UTP, a week-long event which began from 1 to 9 April 2017 at UTP campus in Bandar Seri Iskandar. The event was open to public with free admission.
