CONVO: FestAfrica 2017

"The Beauty of the World Lies in the Diversity of its People" - The dynamic audience made 1st Festival of Africa (FestAfrica) of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) to be a huge success.

This positive vibe was filled at Multi-Purpose Hall, CETaL with such inspiring and powerful speeches from Mr. Alberto Elias, the Project Manager of FestAfrica 2017, Mr. Talhah Hasan, the Senior Manager of Student Support Services Department (SSSD) and Mr. Letsoara Letsunyane, the 1st Secretary, High Commission of the Kingdom of Lesotho in Malaysia.
After the gimmick-themed officiating ceremony, the crowd couldn't take their eyes off the stage as they were astounded and fascinated by the cultural performances and fashion show that enriched our knowledge about African culture.

The students from Asia Pacific University (APU) put an outstanding performance as musicians while Gracie (Mozambique) and Akram (Sudan) from UTP never failed to amaze us with their grace and poise in delivering their message regarding their pride to be African queens.

UTP's Interbeatz and UPAG gave eye-opening performances and showed everyone that versatility and agility were the keys to flawlessly convey any message to people, including the portrayal of the African culture in FestAfrica.

The audience was also mesmerised with the marvellous musical performance from Segi University. The choir team of MyMoz members had all dancing a little with their incredible harmonisation and freestyles. Not to forget, the flexible and perfect choreography from the dancers of Lim Kok Wing University made people wonder how they made the impossible steps look so easy.

A video entitled "Let's talk about Africa, shall we?" broke all the stereotypes and generalisation about Africa. Later on, a Kahoot quiz was conducted based on the video presentation and the lucky person to win the prize of a three days and two night trip to Penang was "Daddy's girl". Also, Interbeatz was the strongest team who won RM1000 in the dance competition.

The informal emcee, Zoba, helped to get the mood of celebration in full swing as he easily captured the crowd's hearts with his endless jokes. Since he's a comedian, it's only natural for him to do so.

"I hope that the African people will not stop to enhance people around us with our vibrant culture" - Mdm. Doreen Munadawafa, the 3rd Secretary, High Commission of the Kingdom of Zimbabwe in Malaysia, who also attended the event on last Saturday ended this spectacular event with these words.
