UTP Pro Chancellor YBhg Tan Sri Zaharah Ibrahim recently launched UTP Integrity Month to educate UTP community on the importance of integrity, inculcate the best practices in integrity and speak out against corruption.
Throughout June, a series of events were organised by UTP Anti-Corruption Students Force (AMAR) which included Intellectual Forum, Integrity Speaker Corner Competition and Integrity Quiz. To kick start UTP Integrity Month, YBhg Tan Sri delivered a keynote address entitled 'Leading by Example: Nurturing Young Technocrats with Integrity'.
In the address, she said corruption is a serious problem in Malaysia. Therefore, it is important to nurture young technocrats with integrity who possess qualities of being honest, trustworthy, responsible, reliable and strong moral principles for the country.
She remarked that everyone can be a potential leader. However, a leader can only gain full commitment and excellent performance from the team members if the leader reciprocates. The leader must lead by good example and demonstrate to the team members that he is a person of high integrity. In this regard, she gave various examples of a leader with high integrity which included, among others:

Respect the working hours solely for work matters

Perform the tasks assigned to the best of your ability and in accordance with the standard operating procedures

Evaluate your subordinates' performance honestly

Create a safe and healthy working environment for your team members

Refrain from disclosing confidential information

Refrain from receiving gifts
-
Ensure that payment is made on time and in accordance with the contract or agreement or other requirements
YBhg Tan Sri continued her address by reminding the audience to be content and grateful with what they have. In addition, they must also refrain from doing immoral and illegal activities. She also encouraged everyone to speak out and report of any wrong doings that can adversely affect the organisation through the proper channels.
Further she urged attendees to know and understand the company's direction on integrity and to always do the right thing. Before ending her session, she hoped that high integrity will be everyone's important hallmark.
Present at the keynote address were UTP Vice Chancellor Professor Ts. Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib, UTP Executive Management Committee Members, Perak Deputy Director (Prevention) MACC Senior Assistant Commissioner En Jaafar Tajudin, PETRONAS Chief Integrity Officer En Saiful Ezral Arifin, Perak State Government Chief Assistant Secretary Integrity Unit En Jacob Raju Jayadurai and UTP Integrity Month Project Director En Aiman Shafiq Abd Hisham.
They were joined by UTP staff and students, student representatives from UiTM Seri Iskandar, Kolej Professional MARA Seri Iskandar, Kolej Kemahiran Tinggi MARA Lenggong as well as AMAR representatives from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris.
