UTP Summer Programme - Singapore Management University
UTP is pleased to welcome and host students from Singapore Management University (SMU) to join the UTP Summer Programme 2022. 10 SMU students participated in the 2-week programme, which began from 5 June 2022. They were accompanied by SMU Manager of International Office, Mr Justin Goh. The programme was jointly organised by UTP Centre for Student Development (CSD) and Petroleum Engineering Department.
For the summer programme, SMU students will undergo a 1-credit course on Introduction to the Oil and Gas Industry and Sustainable Development. In addition, they will also participate in on-campus student activities such as campus tour, cultural exchange and recreational activities as well as off-campus activities such as industrial visit and educational trips.
In return, 15 UTP students will participate in the SMU Global Summer Programme (The Temasek Foundation (TF) International Leadership Enrichment and Regional Networking (LEaRN) Programme 2022) from 26 June until 10 July 2022. For this, the university would like to express its gratitude to TF for sponsoring UTP students.
The summer programme is one of the activities implemented as a result of the signing of a memorandum of understanding between UTP and SMU last month. During the signing ceremony, UTP was represented by the Vice Chancellor Professor Ts. Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib, while SMU was represented by the President Professor Lily Kong. The signing was witnessed by UTP Chancellor YBhg Tan Sri (Dr) Mohd Hassan Marican, who is also the Chair of SMU Industry Advisory Council Malaysia. YBhg Tan Sri has been instrumental in linking both universities for the collaboration.
