UTP and the University of Adelaide, Australia have signed a credit transfer agreement that enables both institutions to collaborate for a special track for students who enrol in the Bachelor of Petroleum Engineering with Honours and Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Applied Chemistry degree programmes.
Students will undergo the first two years of the programme at UTP and the remaining two years at The University of Adelaide, Australia.
After completing the 4-year study, students will be conferred with a bachelor’s degree from The University of Adelaide, Australia.
Signing the agreement were UTP Vice Chancellor Professor Ts. Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib and The University of Adelaide Vice Chancellor and President Professor Peter Høj AC.
“The special track will benefit the students as they will experience academic environments and campus life at two different prominent institutions. Additionally, they will earn an Australian degree at a much lower cost. This is in line with the future of education as we move towards agility, flexibility and multidisciplinary based approach," said Professor Mohamed Ibrahim.
"Signing this agreement is a significant step in maintaining a long-term relationship with Australian institutions. We also hope this collaboration will open up opportunities to attract more Australian students to conduct part of their studies in Malaysia, particularly at UTP. This would broaden our pool of talents with international perspectives, with the goal of contributing to Malaysia's future growth," he added.
