UTP Lends Helping Hands to 331 Students with School Supplies

331 secondary students from 26 schools across Perak received assistance in the form of school supplies through the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) Menggapai Impian Yayasan UTP School Kits Giving Campaign.
The campaign is part of the university’s social responsibility initiatives and meant to ease the burden of low-income families from the university’s surrounding areas in preparation for the new school term. This is to motivate their children to become better students and give them a chance for a better future.
Under this campaign, students received basic school supplies in the form of bags, stationery and shopping vouchers.
The school supplies were handed over to the district education officer or representatives, principals or representatives of the schools as well as UTP janitors and security personnel.
This year, the campaign raised over RM66,000 through contribution from UTP and PETRONAS staff who sponsored a minimum of RM200 for each student.
Since its launch in 2007, the UTP Menggapai Impian Yayasan UTP School Kits Giving Campaign have benefitted more than 3,452 students from orphanages, welfare homes, shelters and schools as well as children of UTP janitors and security personnel.
