UTP and DNA Join Forces to Advance Civil and Environmental Engineering Education and Innovation 


DNA MoU1.jpgUniversiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) and Dr Nik & Associates Sdn Bhd (DNA) have joined forces to enhance the university’s Civil and Environmental Engineering programme through a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

DNA MoU2.jpgThis collaboration signifies the shared dedication of both institutions to advancing knowledge and fostering innovation, with a specific focus on the field of civil and environmental engineering. The collaboration spans various dimensions, including academic collaboration, research initiatives, and mobility opportunities. 

At the signing, UTP was represented by Vice Chancellor Professor Dato’ Ts Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib and the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Associate Professor Ir Dr Rosdiazli Ibrahim. DNA was represented by its Executive Chairman Dato’ Ir Dr Nik Mohd Kamel Nik Hassan and Director Ir Ts Nik Abdullah Mu’az Nik Mohd Kamel.

According to Mohamed Ibrahim, “Collaboration with industry allows UTP to stay abreast of industry trends, enhance students' employability, and provide opportunities for research and innovation. By aligning academic offerings and research initiatives with industry requirements, UTP and DNA aim to make a significant impact on the field of civil and environmental engineering.”

Meanwhile, Nik Mohd Kamel said, "We believe this MoU will significantly strengthen the relationship between DNA and UTP, enabling cooperation in various fields and resource sharing. Through this collaboration, we aim to leverage our combined expertise and experiences to create a lasting positive impact on future generations, contributing to building a better nation."

Looking ahead, UTP and DNA envision even more collaborations, including joint supervision of design projects, joint evaluation of student performance, and collaborative consultancy projects. The shared commitment is to foster a conducive environment for collaborative research endeavours and technological advancements in civil and environmental engineering.​
