JST Sakura Science Program took place in Kumamoto Prefecture Japan from 20th of January 2019 until 27th January 2019. The participants came from Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Colombia, Mexico and Brazil. Mr Waqi from Chemical Engineering is one of the participants under the Program.

The participants are exposed to Kumamoto University’s globalization efforts as well as JST e-Asia projects. On 23rd January, International Symposium On Biomass Utilization & Functional Materials was held in Kumamoto University as part of the JST Sakura Science Program. Prof. Ir. Dr. Suzana Binti Yusuf has presented her talk on ‘Biomass Conversion to Biofuel via Green Engineering and Technology’ during the international symposium. On 24th January, the 49th IROAST Seminar took place in Kumamoto University with the theme ‘Materials Processing with Supercritical Fluids’. In the seminar, distinguished professor from Seoul National University, Prof. Youn-Woo Lee, and distinguished professor from Aix-Marseille University, Prof. Olivier Boutin, were invited to share their research works in the seminar.
