PERFORMANCE MONITORING​​

Research Centre Internal Audit is an exercise in monitoring and progress of each research centre in UTP. The internal audit will determine the achievement and position of the research centre in order to achieve HICoE in Malaysia.The instrument used for the internal audit is the HICoE glossary defined by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE).

​Based on the score obtained by each research centre through the internal audit process will be ranked into a tier system. Each tier will receive a dedicated incentive to boost the research centre activity.

Tier 1 is the highest rank in the tier system where those research centre that were awarded with HICoE recognition by MOHE will be at the tier 1 rank. While tier 5 is the lowest tier in the tier system. Most of the research centre that has been newly established will be start as in tier 5 and progress by each year to hike the tier up to a higher tier.

An overview of HICoE: The establishment of the Centre of Excellence (CoE) is aimed at encouraging Higher Education Institutions (IHLs) to remain competitive in various fields of research, expertise and services at national and international levels. Below are the instruments used for Research Centre measurements.

​RESEARCH CENTRE​​​​

The concept of tiers, accompanied by validity periods and incentives, was formally introduced to the Centre of Excellence (CoE) subsequent to its approval by the UTP Executive Management Committee on July 31st, 2019. Since its inception in 2019, eligible CoEs have been acknowledged in accordance with this framework, aimed at facilitating their growth and long-term sustainability.​

Under this framework, research centers are classified into tiers based on their performance in internal audits, with corresponding incentives allocated accordingly. This approach ensures that UTP Research Centers are duly recognized and incentivized based on their achievements and commitment to excellence.
