MyRA® is an acronym for Malaysia Research Assessment Instrument. It’s a comprehensive system developed to assess the research capacity and performance of all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Malaysia. 

MyRA® is an instrument used for assessing research capabilities at an institutional level. It measures excellence by assessing the distance of HEIs from a profile (benchmark) that is defined as outstanding for a research university of the country. MyRA® instruments consist of three main elements:

  • Indicators or criteria that assess HEIs
  • Benchmark for each indicator
  • Scoring mechanism for every indicator
