Programme Details
Student Exchange Programme is carried out based on mutual agreement between universities/institutions (partner university / institution). Exchange students can enrol in equivalent courses at UTP in subjects that are related to their faculties and study background in their Home University.
As an exchange student, you will:

Study for 1 to 2 semester(s).

Intake is open in January, May & September Semester every year.

Attend classes and involved in other related academic activities (i.e. assignments, projects, tests, tutorials, examinations, etc.)

Have an option to enrol in additional courses that focused on leadership and communication skills, analytical and critical thinking, social competencies and business management acumen.

Have an opportunity to take part in homestay programme, educational trips and/or outdoor excursions.
All participants will receive a transcript upon completion of the programme.
For students coming from our Non-partner University/Institution, you may join this kind of programme namely as Study Abroad Programme (SAP). All programme component will be same as Student Exchange Programme except for the Tuition Fees.

Student can apply to study for 1 up to 2 semester(s). Application will be open thrice a year; during Jan, May & September semester.

1. Open for all full time undergraduate student in their Home University with minimum CGPA of 2.75 or equivalent
2. Fulfill English requirements (for non-English speaking countries):

A minimum IELTS score of 5.0 OR

3. Financially stable and afford to support the whole cost incurred during the programme

Application Process
STEP 1 – APPLYING THROUGH YOUR HOME UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL OFFICE
Application can be made through Home University's International Office or Mobility Coordinator and details shall be provided via email.
STEP 2 – SUBMIT APPLICATION
Student to submit all the required document for admission and Student Pass Visa application.

Please be informed that the application for Student Pass Visa will only be submitted to EMGS after the submission of required documents are complete by the student. Issuance of electronic Visa Approval Letter (e-VAL) would take about 2 – 3 months after student submitted the complete documents including proof of payment.
After receving e-VAL, student shall obtain a Single Entry Visa (SEV) from the nearest Malaysian Commision and the issuance process is depending on the respected office operation. Therefore, please do not purchase flight ticket before obtaining purchase flight ticket before obtaining the Visa Approval Letter (VAL).
Courses offered will be slightly different for every semester. However, you may refer to UTP Undergraduate Handbook for overall list and description for each courses.
STEP 3 – UTP STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAMME (SEP) OFFER LETTER
UTP will review above document and issue an offer letter to qualified applicant. Then, student profile will be registered with Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) system for Student Pass Visa application.
*Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) is a company limited by guarantee, incorporated under the laws of Malaysia and wholly owned by the Ministry of Higher Education to process students' Visa Application.

Student to pay programme fee to UTP and pre-arrival student pass Visa fee to EMGS. The cost may varies depending on duration of stay. Every student entering Malaysia using Student Pass Visa will be covered by a medical health insurance scheme under EMGS.
UTP do not provide any financial support for incoming students.
STEP 6 – APPROVAL FOR STUDENT PASS VISA APPLICATION
UTP will assist student in applying student pass through EMGS. Student's documents will be reviewed twice. If there is no correction required, it will be submitted to Immigration Malaysia for the issuance of Visa Approval Letter (VAL).
STEP 7 – SINGLE ENTRY VISA
Student need to bring VAL to the nearest Malaysia Embassy Office/ Consulate to obtain Single Entry Visa (SEV) to get permission to enter Malaysia (depends on nationality).
STEP 8 – VACCINATION & CONFIRMATION FOR COVID-19 PREVENTION QUARANTINE
Please be informed, UTP only accept student that have received minimum 2 doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
It is advisable for student to conduct the RTK Antigen Test before travel and shall refrain from depart or attending program if applicant:
- Diagnosed as suspected or confirmed COVID -19 and have not completed treatment
- In contact with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 cases within the last 14 days
- Having any Covid-19 symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, etc.
Upon arrival, applicant shall undergo RTK Antigen Test that verified by medical practitioner at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (estimated cost: RM80 to RM180). The result shall be submitted to UTP and only those who clear from any infection will be allowed to enter UTP campus.
STEP 9 – CONFIRMATION OF TRAVEL & ACCOMMODATION
Student to confirm travel arrangement, flight ticket details and accommodation with UTP. It is advisable for student to follow the proposed airport pickup schedule by UTP.
Upon request and availability, UTP will reserve a room on your behalf. Student will be staying at twin-sharing, air-conditioned room.
STEP 10 - POST-ARRIVAL MEDICAL SCREENING
Student is required to undergo a medical screening at EMGS nominated clinic within 7 days of arrival date.
STEP 11 – CONFIRMATION & CONVERSION OF STUDENT PASS VISA/MULTIPLE ENTRY VISA
Student to submit passport to UTP Student Mobility Office after pass the health screening.

If you wish to cancel your participation, please email directly to coordinator your personal details such as Full Name, Home University, Passport Number, Telephone Number and state your valid reason(s).
Any cancellation without valid reason & less than 1 month prior to programme date is non-refundable.
