UTP conducted its very first Virtual Orientation Week (VO’W) with a total of 517 new students from 1-2 June 2020.

VO’W was conducted via ULearn and Microsoft Teams as well as various social media platforms to ensure that the new students are able to engage, interact, and bond with their peers, senior buddies, facilitators as well as academic and support staff.

One student from Pahang was hospitalised due to dengue, but he showed high commitment and attended the online event from his hospital bed. 

Virtual Oath Taking Ceremony

The 2-day VO’W programme ended with a Virtual Oath Taking Ceremony, which saw the students reciting the UTP Students’ Oath witnessed by VIP guests, Professor Ir Dr. Hilmi bin Mukhtar, Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic, Professor Dr. Nor Hisham bin Hamid, Deputy Vice Chancellor Student Affairs and Alumni, Deans and Chairs of respective academic departments.

Before the ceremony started, Professor Ir Dr. Hilmi bin Mukhtar shared a few words with the students emphasising the need for them to stay positive during these trying times and to familiarise themselves with online learning as the new normal. He also highlighted the need for students to regularly engage with their instructors and lecturers to further enhance their learning experience at UTP.
