UTP Secured New National Research Grant 2020 from Engineering X
On 23 July 2020

Engineering X is an international collaboration founded by the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAE) and Lloyd’s Register Foundation and awarded nearly £1 million in grants to six projects in the UK and overseas aimed at tackling the complex social, environmental, and engineering challenges of decommissioning ships and offshore structures.


We are pleased to inform that UTP had secured one (1) National Research Grant from Engineering X through a project titled 'Safe and sustainable decommissioning of offshore structures taking into consideration the peculiarities of the ASEAN & South Asia Regions'. It is led by UTM in partnership with 9 other institutions including UTP that is represented by Associate Professor Dr. Noor Amila Bt Wan Zawawi.


The objective of the project is to develop technical guidelines for safe and sustainable decommissioning processes and develop safe and sustainable recycling facilities and safe downstream waste management facilities for decommissioned offshore structures in ASEAN and South Asia.
