IMS Worldwide (M) Sdn Bhd, through its subsidiary, Alpine Stream Engineering Sdn Bhd, and Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) are entering a strategic partnership to bring UTP’s technology, the Integrated Suspended Growth Bio-Reactor (i-SGBR), closer to market.
The i-SGBR is an innovative biological wastewater treatment system for small communities, and small and medium scale industries that integrates anoxic tank, aerobic tank, clarifier and sludge digester into one system. This approach contributes towards cost savings, sustainability, circular economy and environmentally friendly solutions in managing domestic wastewater effluent and controlling pollution to our water basins and waterways.
In line with the country’s direction in sustainability and environmentally friendly solutions in Wastewater and Solid Waste Management, both parties shall collaborate in the following areas:
- To jointly design, develop and operate a pilot scale of the i-SGBR reactor
- To jointly seek for regulatory and compliance approval from relevant governmental body
- To jointly market and promote the i-SGBR to domestic and international market
Professor Ir Dr Mohd Shahir Liew, Deputy Vice Chancellor Research, Innovation and Commercialisation of UTP said, “We hope that with this partnership with IMS Worldwide, we are able to increase the participation from industry in commercialising local technology. UTP develops the i-SGBR to create value in supporting the sustainable economy agenda.”
“With this collaboration, we are able to combine expertise such as in green technology, which will provide a competitive advantage in bringing Malaysian technology to international markets,” said Mr Jeffrey Goh, Managing Director of IMS Worldwide (M) Sdn Bhd.
As a way to initiate the launch of the partnership, IMS Worldwide (M) Sdn Bhd, through Alpine Stream Engineering Sdn Bhd and UTP plans to enter a Joint Development Agreement.
