Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) International Advisory Council (IAC) concluded its session recently with the focus on building a resilient UTP.
The IAC, which was established in 2003, has been instrumental in providing guidance and strategic direction for the university’s development. It consists of 14 distinguished individuals and experts in the respective field and industry, namely:

Various engagement activities between the IAC members, staff and students were held throughout the three-day session to discuss on how to transform and build UTP as a resilient organisation from three perspectives, namely research, academic and the stakeholders’ experience.
The first day of the session with UTP Board of Directors and Management kicked off with a talk on “A Glimpse into the Future in 2050” by IAC member, Dr David Wood followed by a forum on the topic “Energy Sustainability: Threats & Opportunities”. The panel discussed on the need for the university to change according to the changing needs of the industry and society, from traditional teaching and learning to the centre of innovation and creativity that creates value to stakeholders.
Next was a forum on “Customer & Stakeholder Experience: Digitalisation” which deliberated on the importance of creating the right customer experience for students, parents and sponsors as well as industry partners and other stakeholders such as internal staff, alumni, vendors, authorities and communities.
The first day ended with a forum on “Future-proofing Higher Education-Building Resilience and Lifelong Learning Experience” where the panel discussed on the changing role of the university in addressing industrial and societal needs.
The second day saw concurrent engagement sessions involving IAC members, staff and students which addressed topics on enhancing customer experience, creating value to stakeholders and future-proofing higher education.
The Council meeting ended with a briefing on UTP’s current progress and later the Council members addressed various topics related to building a resilient university.
