Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) and PETRONAS Group Security have signed an agreement to collaborate on various security analytics technology initiatives.
With this collaboration, it cements further UTP’s proposition as the data science technology and solutions partner for the industries.
The collaboration is also in support of PETRONAS' energy transition activities to move towards Net Zero Carbon Emission (NZCE) by 2050 as part of the university’s aspiration for a sustainable global prominence.
The agreement was signed by UTP Vice Chancellor Professor Ts. Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib and PETRONAS Group Security Senior General Manager Dato’ Sri Zulkifli Abdullah.
It will emphasise cooperation between UTP, through its Centre for Research in Data Science (CeRDaS), and PETRONAS Group Security in the areas of co-joint training offerings and competency development courses and research and development initiatives. These initiatives are further strengthened with the setting up of PETRONAS’ Security Analytics Laboratory at UTP.
UTP hopes that the partnership will encourage postgraduate students, researchers, academicians and industry practitioners to venture into data security, cyber security and physical security analytics research as well as inviting potential security analytics research grants to UTP.
CeRDaS, under the Institute of Autonomous Systems (IAS), is dedicated to data-driven research and development that entails both industrial relevance as well as knowledge creation and innovative research.
It provides the link between academic knowledge and product application where operational technology is integrated with information technology through data science for industrial value creation.
