Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) and SRM University Andhra Pradesh (SRM University AP) India recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to intensify activities in the areas of academic, research and student mobility.
The signatories for the MoU were UTP Vice Chancellor Professor Ts. Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib and SRM University AP International Relations and Higher Studies Associate Director Dr Naga Swetha Pasupuleti.
Also present at the event were UTP Deputy Vice Chancellor Student Affairs Professor Ts. Dr Nor Hisham Hamid, SRM University AP Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering, Head – Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship Academy (IDEA) Professor Prakash Jadhav and delegates from both institutions.
Speaking at the event, Mohamed Ibrahim said, “We see this form of collaboration and networking as a testament of UTP's continuous effort in realising its aspiration to become a prominent internationally recognised higher learning institution.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with SRM University AP in creating platforms that will enrich students’ learning experience as many leading world higher education institutions are pushing for globalised learning exposure to equip students with the necessary understanding and experience to work cross borders.
“We believe that this MOU will not only provide our students with valuable academic and cultural experiences but will also deepen the relationship between our two institutions.
“With this partnership, we hope that it will pave the way to attract more prospective students from India to study in UTP and the region to strengthen our higher education value proposition, capacity and capabilities in Malaysia," he added.
Both institutions had started collaborating last year in which 83 SRM University AP students completed their familiarisation programme at UTP, where they were introduced to UTP facilities, programmes offered, research expertise and campus surroundings.
To reciprocate, UTP sent the first group of outbound students to explore the SRM University AP campus in Amaravati as well as attend specialised short courses and visit Infosys Limited campus in Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, Sandeep Samala SRM University AP Global Immersion Programme Coordinator said participating in the UTP familiarisation programme will increase students’ global quotient and helps them to become empowered global citizens.
