A group of 34 athletes from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) recently concluded a four-day sports and cultural exchange programme with Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII), focusing on volleyball and futsal. They competed in test matches with UII and another Indonesian university, Universitas Ahmad Dahlan.
While at UII, the students were involved in cultural exchange performances, providing opportunities for both institutions to showcase their heritage and share their unique traditions.
Among the UII delegates who attended the cultural programme were Vice Rector for Student, Religious, and Alumni Affairs Dr Rohidin, Vice Rector for Partnership and Entrepreneurship Dr Wiryono Raharjo, Director of Partnership/International Affairs Dr Dian Sari Utami, and Director of Student Coaching Beni Suranto.
Beyond the sporting events and performances, the exchange programme incorporated an essential element of cultural exploration. Students had the opportunity to immerse themselves in local attractions and delve into the region's vibrant culture.
This aspect aimed to broaden their perspectives, enhancing their understanding of the cultural diversity and historical significance of the local culture.
The success of the UTP-UII sports and cultural exchange programme underscores the crucial role of fostering cross-cultural experiences, enabling students to become global citizens capable of tackling the challenges of an increasingly interconnected world.
The journey embarked upon by the participants was one of remarkable discovery, friendship, and cultural exchange. By providing a platform for students to learn from one another and strive towards a shared future, this programme has forged invaluable connections among the participants.
UTP Centre of Student Development (CSD) would like to convey its heartfelt gratitude to UII for their warm hospitality and unwavering support in providing UTP students with this enriching global experience. The success of the programme stands as a testament to the commitment of both universities to deliver quality education and foster global perspectives.
CSD would also like to express its sincere appreciation to UTP Management and the UTP Sports Team for their invaluable contributions to the programme's success.
