The ULearnPlus platform was launched by Yang Berbahagia Professor Dato’ Ts Dr Mohammed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib, Vice Chancellor, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS on 20th October 2023, and in conjunction with the International External Advisor meeting, 2023. This marked another significant milestone for UTP as the learning provider for micro-credentials, as the ULearnPlus platform offers a series of micro-credential courses designed to meet the dynamic needs of working professionals and learners. This initiative is in line with Shift 9 of the Malaysia Higher Education Blueprint: Globalised Online Learning.

The micro-credential modules are designed and aligned to meet industry demand, supporting professionals and learners in acquiring new skills and knowledge either for their career advancement or fulfilling their CDP points requirement or obtaining professional certifications. This initiative opens collaborative opportunities between academia and industry in developing modules that are relevant and applicable to the current and future needs of the industry.

During the launch, Yang Berbahagia Professor Dato’ Ts Dr Mohammed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib emphasized UTP's commitment to the micro-credential initiative. This includes incentivizing UTP academicians who contribute to developing the micro-credential modules offered on ULearnPlus. The Vice-Chancellor also acknowledged the collaborative effort of the project team, led by Associate Professor Dr Nurhayati Mellon, Senior Director, Centre for Academic Excellence (CAdEx), and the course developer team, led by Dr Amutha Nagarajan, Manager, Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETaL), for the successful implementation of the micro-credential initiative. He also acknowledged the early adopter of micro-credential module developers who have stepped up to the challenge of becoming the pioneer module developer on ULearnPlus.

In conclusion, the ULearnPlus platform is a testament to UTP’s commitment to the evolving world of digital education. It provides an opportunity for all, educators, and learners to be part of the global learning community through digital education.
