UTP, EPOMS, Pahang Skills Development Centre to Nurture ​More Workforce for Oil and Gas Sector

Recognising the growing demands for highly skilled technical personnel in the oil and gas industry, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with E&P O&M Services Sdn Bhd (EPOMS) and Pahang Skills Development Centre at Kuantan Pahang. 

This collaboration aims to provide skilled professionals and boost their employability within the industry. Through this MoU, the three organisations are committed to fostering a talent pool that aligns with the industry's evolving demands, reinforcing their collective commitment to excellence and innovation in the oil and gas sector. 

The MoU was signed by UTP Vice Chancellor Professor Dato’ Ts Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib, EPOMS Director Dato’ Mohd Pathil Ahmad and Pahang Skills Development Centre Executive Director Mohd Yusri Mohd Nor.  

The signing was witnessed by Pahang Menteri Besar Dato’ Sri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, Pahang State Secretary Dato’ Seri Zulkifli Yaacob, EPOMS Chairman Raja Dato’ Seri Mufik Affandi Raja Khalid and Pahang Skills Development Centre Chairman Dato’ Mas’ut Awang Samah. 

According to UTP Vice Chancellor Professor Dato’ Ts Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib, “UTP is committed to promoting excellence in education and human capital development.  Through our Centre for Advanced and Professional Education (CAPE), our mission is to become the industry's preferred partner by offering cutting-edge and innovative programmes, providing an adaptable learning platform to a diverse range of learners, along with access to UTP’s rich intellectual resources.

“This MoU marks a significant milestone that can lead to a closer, more profound, and effective collaboration among all parties involved.  We hope that that we can expand this collaboration not only in professional courses but also in various academic and research domains,” he added. 

UTP CAPE was established in 2016, providing sustainable programmes and professional courses that contribute to advancing knowledge and expertise in the oil and gas sectors. 

EPOMS, established in 2012, is a leading service provider specialising in operations and maintenance solutions throughout the entire oil and gas industry of the country, spanning from pre-production to post-production activities. 

Meanwhile, Pahang Skills Development Centre, established in 1994, is a reputable training provider that offers training based on skills and technology, focusing on skill development for workers in the industrial sector, graduates and school leavers.  ​
