Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) and China University of Petroleum (CUP) Beijing have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), renewing their commitment to a strong academic and research partnership established in August 2019.
The MoU encompasses a wide range of initiatives, including:
• Establishment of a Joint Research Centre: This centre will leverage the strengths and expertise of both UTP and CUP Beijing to tackle pressing challenges in fields such as petroleum engineering, carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), and artificial intelligence (AI).
• Postgraduate and Staff Exchange Programmes: These programmes will facilitate the exchange of knowledge and expertise between UTP and CUP Beijing faculty and students.
• Undergraduate Collaborative Programmes: The MoU paves the way for the development of collaborative undergraduate programmes in Bachelor of Computer Science and Bachelor of Information Systems.
For the MoU, UTP was represented by its Vice Chancellor Professor Dato’ Ir Ts Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib and Deputy Vice Chancellor Research, Innovation and Commercialisation Associate Professor Ts Dr Mohd Fadzil Hassan. Meanwhile, CUP Beijing was represented by its President Professor Jin Yan and the Deputy Director of International Office Professor Feng Yongcun.
