Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) celebrates the achievement of Dr Norwahyu Jusoh from the Department of Chemical Engineering, who has received the prestigious Outstanding Asian Researcher and Engineer Award from the Society of Chemical Engineers, Japan (SCEJ).
The award honours distinguished individuals of Asian origin who have made remarkable contributions to advancing chemical engineering, particularly in addressing global challenges in energy, environment, sustainability, and industrial development.
Dr Norwahyu’s recognition underscores her significant contributions in carbon capture and in advancing future energy solutions, driving progress towards sustainability and addressing global climate challenges.
As part of this honour, she has been invited to deliver an Award Lecture at the International Chemical Engineering Symposia (IChES 2026) / SCEJ 91st Annual Meeting at Kyoto University, Japan, from 18–20 March 2026, and to contribute a review article to the Journal of Chemical Engineering of Japan (JCEJ).
Reflecting on the award, Dr Norwahyu said, “This is a tremendous honour, not only for me but also for UTP and Malaysia. It affirms the importance of our research in addressing global challenges such as energy transition and sustainability, and it motivates me to continue pushing the boundaries of chemical engineering. Research is not just about discovery; it’s about creating impact. I hope this recognition will further strengthen international collaborations and open new opportunities for UTP to contribute to the global chemical engineering community."
Previously, in February 2025, Dr Norwahyu was a finalist for the Young Energy Professional of the Year at the Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES), an award that celebrates rising talents driving innovation and leadership in the energy sector.
This recognition reinforces UTP’s position as a global hub for impactful research and innovation, dedicated to driving solutions that address the world’s most pressing challenges while advancing a sustainable future.
