Dr Nick Wayth

Dr Nick Wayth is Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Institute. The Energy Institute is the charitable chartered professional membership body for people in energy. Its purpose is to create a better energy future for its members and society by accelerating a just global energy transition to net zero.
Dr Wayth is passionate about driving the energy transition and improving diversity in the energy sector. He also sits as a Board Member of POWERful Women, a professional initiative to advance gender diversity within the energy sector.
Prior to this Dr Wayth spent nearly 22 years at BP plc in a variety of executive and management roles in the UK, US and North Africa. Most recently he held the post of Chief Development Officer of Alternative Energy, where he led BP’s strategy and business development in a broad range of renewable technologies including solar, offshore wind, and digital energy.
Dr Wayth graduated from the University of Southampton in BEng. Mechanical Engineering and holds a PhD in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering. He is also a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and a Fellow of the Energy Institute.
