In YUTP's effort to provide a platform to raise funds, the Tapestry of Colours fundraising concert was organised as a fundraising dinner. The Tapestry of Colours Charity Dinner (TOCCD) 2020 was held on 10 January 2020 at the Diamond Ballroom, EQ Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
The dinner, held with the support from PETRONAS and Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), aimed to raise funds for the granting of scholarships to deserving UTP students.
Contributions for the charity dinner came from corporate and individual sponsors such as Dialog Group Berhad, Seadrill, TechnipFMC, Conocophillips, Synerlitz Sdn Bhd, YB Yeo Bee Yin (UTP Alumni), under the 'Peruntukan Khas Menteri' – Special Minister's Allocation, KLCC Property Holdings Berhad, Transwater API Sdn Bhd, QR Apparel Sdn Bhd, Uzma Berhad and Code of Origin Sdn Bhd.
Guests were also entertained with performances from UTP talented engineering, science and technology students from UTP Performing Arts Group, Interbeatz Dance Crew, Petra, Virtuoso, Gajjdi Jawani, Sanggar Kirana and UTP String Ensemble.
The fundraising efforts were categorized under 2 income sources where in FY2020 YUTP managed to collect RM 179,600 from sponsorship and table sales. In addition to that, another RM39,021.80 were collected from Crowdfunding programme on the event night. In total, a sum of RM218,621.80, was successfully collected for FY2020 from the event.
2. Corporate Donation to UTP Asnaf
YUTP has also received a once-off contribution from generous corporation such as Ace Identity Sdn Bhd amounting to RM25,000 to be disbursed to poor Muslim students to cover their essential needs.
A mock cheque presentation ceremony was held to commemorate such generous donation in conjunction with Tabung Amanah Zakat UTP (TAZU) Special Programme Briefing Session on 29th July 2020. The mock cheque was presented by En Hamaludin bin Ali, Chief Executive Officer, Ace Identity Sdn Bhd to Puan Adela Dinyati, YUTP Director and witnessed by Prof Dr Nor Hisham bin Hamid, UTP Deputy Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs and Alumni. The session was also attended by 200 UTP students who are also the recipients of TAZU Financial Assistance Programme.
