1. World Engineering, Science & Technology Congres (ESTCON) 2022
World Engineering, Science and Technology Congress (ESTCON) 2022 was co-organised by the Alliance of Government-Linked Universities, supported by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of Malaysia (MOSTI), the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM), the Sarawak State Government through its Business Events Sarawak, Human Resources Development Corporation (HRDC), and the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT). The congress was held from 1st to 2nd December 2022 with more than 1,000 experts in diverse fields of research, innovation, and commercialisation from around 30 countries. The seventh edition of the congress delves into Future Energy and Smart Communities and encompasses a wide range of fields in engineering and technology innovation as well as in humanities. A UTP flagship event, ESTCON2022 was the largest congress in the world with eight main conferences held concurrently. The previous five Congresses held in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2020 had successfully gathered more than thousands of participants from all over the world. The fundraising effort for this Congress had received RM50,000 worth of sponsorship in 2023, thus far contributed by the main sponsor, Sarawak Energy Berhad. Other sponsors including, Dialog E&C Sdn Bhd, Agilent Technologies, Advance Altimas Sdn Bhd and Avantis Laboratory Supply also contributed to the event in ensuring ESTCON 2022 success.
1. Menggapai Impian & YUTP School Kits Giving Campaign 2023
This community outreach project was organised by the Yayasan UTP in collaboration with UTP Stakeholders Management Department as part of the University Social Responsibility (USR) programmes. The fundraising campaign was held from December 2022 until March 2023 to alleviate the families’ financial burden when it comes to back-to-school costs.
In total, Yayasan UTP received sponsorships and donations of RM66,200 to provide the school kits consisting of a school bag, a stationery set, and a gift voucher worth RM150 for the purchase of additional school supplies given to deserving students from 331 families. The identified recipients are from schools in UTP’s surrounding community including Perak Tengah, Kinta Selatan, Kinta Utara, Manjung, Kerian, Bagan Datuk and Hilir Perak areas. Other recipients include the children of UTP janitors and security personnel.
2. UTP Technology, Education & Career (TEC) 2023
Technology, Education & Career (TEC) is an annual career fair serving as a platform for students throughout Malaysia to explore the opportunities in vast corporate world. TEC allows students to meet potential employers through Career Talks from reputable companies, making it an ideal environment to secure job placement. In 2023, the UTP TEC committee received RM192,000 in sponsorships for the event, with contributions from sponsors including Exxonmobil Exploration, Production Malaysia Inc., Robert Bosch Sdn Bhd, Coca-Cola Bottlers (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, Intel Technology Sdn Bhd, Wehaya Sdn Bhd, HP M and NXP Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
3. UTP Convo Award Night 2023
In conjunction with the UTP Convocation ceremony, several side events were held in UTP to commemorate this university event such as UTP Convo Award Night 2023 which was organised on 29 October 2023, to recognise students who presented the best overall in their academic performance and performed excellently in their special projects. Each category received a certificate and cash prizes sponsored by corporations of the associated industry. For the year 2023, Yayasan UTP received sponsorship for this event amounting to RM18,100 from esteemed sponsors such as Kerajaan Negeri Perak Darul Ridzuan (Exco Sukan Negeri Perak), Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and many others.
4. UTP Capstone & Best Academic Awards 2023
As one of the events done under UTP Convocation 2023, Capstone & Best Academic Awards 2023 was specially organised to acknowledge outstanding capstone projects and student’ academic excellence. These awards were among the most prestigious awards the university confers in conjunction with industry sponsorship. The event had received RM25,000 worth of sponsorship in 2023, thus far contributed by various corporation and industries such as Sepakat Geohydro Resources, Faazmiar Technology Sdn Bhd, Rhazes Well Control and Petroleum Sarawak Berhad.
