Fatin Najihah almost gave up in her studies during her second year at UTP when she learned that her father had a major stroke and would take some time for recovery. It was a daunting moment for her family after finding out her father, a taxi driver, had to drive on his own to the hospital as it was suspected that his blood pressure was extremely high.

Meanwhile, her eldest brother was the only one who could provide for her family as he was already working. Due to the unfortunate event, and the fact that her 15 and 8 year old sisters were still in school, her family was having a hard time to make ends meet solely on her brother’s income as a technician, and her mother’s, from babysitting.

Fatin had considered to search for a job instead of continuing her studies to help her family to sustain their cost of living. But her father reminded her, “I want you to complete your studies with flying colours and be a role model for your sisters.” Fatin held on to these words dearly every day, as she persistently sought for assistance.

With the help of Tabung Amanah Zakat UTP (TAZU), Fatin could continue her education even though her family was still depending on her brother since her father could no longer work.

With her strong will and determination, Fatin managed to graduate excellently and ended up working in a field which she majored in – research and development. She always stays true to her belief that Allah SWT will provide, especially during the moments where life gets in the way, just like what happened to Fatin. She said, “I needed money to further my education, and to sustain me during my studies, and the zakat financial assistance provided this.”
