Launching of UTP Alumni South Africa Chapter (11 Dec 2010)
The third UTP Alumni International Chapter was successfully established in South Africa on 11 December 2010. Puan Juniwati Rahmat Hussin, the Chairman of Institute of Technology PETRONAS Sdn Bhd Board and the Vice President of PETRONAS Human Resource Management, officiated the UTP Alumni South Africa Chapter in the presence of Mr Rizan Ismail, PETRONAS Country Manager of South Africa and Mr Gadu Luncedo Peace, UTP Alumni of South Africa Chapter President.
This UTP Alumni International Chapter is part of UTP Alumni’s continuous efforts in providing valuable contributions to UTP graduates, its alma mater, and the society through an alumni association. Members of UTP Alumni South Africa and other distinguished industry guests from South Africa gathered at Cape Town to witness yet another milestone for the UTP Alumni Association with this establishment.
The rationale of forming Alumni International Chapters is based on the increasing need to enhance bilateral cooperation and people-to-people links with UTP Alumni in other countries. The UTP Alumni Association took on this initiative with support from both UTP and PETRONAS.
Starting with the Sudan and Turkmenistan chapters which were officially launched in 2008 and 2009 respectively, the South Africa chapter is now the third international chapter to be officially established.
