​Royal Concert Held Conjunction with D.Y.M.M. Paduka Seri Sultan Perak Darul Ridzuan, Sultan Azlan Shah’s, 83rd Birthday (1 June 2011)

 

A special concert was held at the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) recently in conjunction with the 83rd birthday celebrations of His Royal Highness, The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah.

 

 

 

 

 

The concert was jointly organised by UTP, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) and the state government. Held at the Chancellor Hall of UTP, the royal concert was graced by His Royal Highness, The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah and Raja DiHilir Perak Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa.

 

 

 

 

 

Also present were Menteri Besar, YAB Datuk Seri DiRaja Dr Zambry Abd Kadir and wife, YABhg Datin Seri DiRaja Saripah Zulkifli, State Secretary, YB Datuk Seri Dr Abdul Rahman Hashim and wife, Datin Seri Faridah bt Din, UTP Vice-Chancellor Datuk Dr Zainal Abidin Kasim and wife, Datin Rosemi Hamdan, UPSI Vice-Chancellor, Prof Datuk Dr Aminah Ayob, state executive councilors and heads of department.

 

 

 

 

 

The royal concert was organised to pay tribute to His Royal Highness, The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah. The event, held for the first time at UTP, showcased songs, musical and dance performances by 200 students and staff of UTP, UPSI and SMK Raja Permaisuri Bainun. The highlight of the concert was a special performance by artistes who sang a song written specially for Sultan Azlan Shah. The song titled Dirgahayu Tuanku Bistari was composed by Raja Azuan Nahar Raja Adnan with the lyrics written by Azam Dungun and Azri Aziz. The two hour-concert combined performance by UTP's performing arts group, Chinese orchestra, gamelan and virtuoso groups, and UPSI's musical orchestra, Cempaka Sari dancers and In Tune Chorus team.

 

 

 

 

 

Among the song renditions were Embun Menitik, Taman Gemala Sari, For Once in My Life, Aku Makin Cinta and We are the Champions. The royal concert was also a star-studded affair with performances by singers such as Aishah, Suhaimi Mior Hassan, Azri Aziz and Nazatul Farahin.

 

 

 

Almost 2000 audiences were glued to their seats throughout this one and a half hour concert.
