Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) has raised RM70,000 in cash and kind to help flood victims of Perak Tengah and east coast. The donation came from staff, students and alumni, in conjunction with the UTP Flood Donation drive.
“We hope that this donation will help ease the victims’ burden. The cash received were used to buy food items such as rice, fish, vegetables and drinking water. We also distributed essential items such as clothes, blankets and diapers to the flood victims, as part of our continuous CSR efforts to reach out to the nearby community,” said UTP Vice Chancellor, Datuk Ir (Dr) Abdul Rahim Hashim.
Datuk Abdul Rahim donated hygiene products to flood victims at SMK Sultan Muzaffar Shah, Lambor Kanan. UTP also organised a health talk by Dr Subramaniam Suppiah (UTP Clinic) on the importance of self-hygiene during and after flood.
About 1000 volunteers made up of UTP’s staff and students were mobilised to clean up flood-affected areas at Perak Tengah such as SK Lambor Kanan, SAR Rimba Raja Lambor Kanan and Teluk Bakong Health Centre Lambor Kanan.
