Meet UTP@F1 Showcase (21 – 29 March 2015)
The Meet UTP@F1 Showcase was a one-of-a-kind, not–to-be-missed event where an established institution of higher learning teamed up with the famed Formula 1 PETRONAS Grand Prix to showcase educational opportunities and one of Malaysia’s most well-loved F1 grand prix events. The event was a unique opportunity which promoted Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) and the 2015 Formula 1 PETRONAS Grand Prix at the same time.
Visitors to this Meet UTP@F1 Showcase were treated to glimpses of the exciting world of the F1 as there were race cars on display and lots of info for F1 enthusiasts. Aside from education on the F1, the Meet UTP@F1 Showcase featured the educational opportunities within UTP itself, presenting an excellent opportunity to see who and what UTP is.
In keeping with the contemporary theme of the event, UTP brought its campus in Seri Iskandar, Perak, right to the heart of the city at the KLCC Esplanade through a 3D presentation. This virtual tour offered visitors an insight to what the physical campus of UTP is like in the northern state and the opportunities to take tours of the modern and fully-equipped faculty buildings within the 1,000 acre campus. This will be especially beneficial and insightful to those who are looking towards UTP for higher education programmes.
A double benefit would be the admission and career consultation offered by staff, students and alumni of the university as well as career talks.To make the event more exciting and meaningful, potential students were able to apply directly for the May & July intakes by bringing along certified copies of academic transcripts, parents’ salary slips and co-curricular certificates at the Meet UTP@F1 Showcase.This in effect, is truly bringing the university to your doorstep.
UTP also organised an Invention & Technology Showcase which exhibited some of the university’s accomplishment and inventions.
There were also Robots Showcase by UTP Computer and Information Sciences Department.
The Meet UTP@F1 Showcase was a fun-filled event with quizzes and Info Hunt open to visitors. Attractive prizes up for grabs included iPads and UTP merchandise.
Meanwhile, for a little bit of the culture and arts, UTP students also staged performances to promote the Tapestry of Colours, a concert in support of Yayasan UTP, on 17 May 2015 at Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. Tickets for the concert were also available at Meet UTP@F1 Showcase.
