UTP Honours 1,711 Graduates at Convocation Ceremony

Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) today celebrated its 19th convocation ceremony where 1,711 graduates were honoured for their achievements.
UTP Pro Chancellor YBhg Datuk Ahmad Nizam Salleh gave away the scrolls to the graduates.
A total of 115 graduate received their doctorate degree, 143 for Master's degree and 1,453 graduates received their bachelor's degrees. 227 were international graduates from 28 countries which included Brunei, Iraq, Yemen, Uzbekistan, Sudan, Egypt and Ukraine.
UTP has now produced 19,013 graduates since its first convocation in 2001.
At this year's convocation, Information Technology graduate Aliya Najiha Amir was awarded the Chancellor's Gold Award whereas Civil Engineering​ graduate Looi Chee Kean and Chemical Engineering​ graduate Ho Syhui received the silver and bronze awards respectively.
Abdallah Abdelmoniem Abdallah Mohammed, a Chemical Engineering graduate received the Best International Undergraduate Student award while Yiin Chung Long, a Chemical Engineering doctorate graduate, received the Best Postgraduate Student award.
Institute of Technology Petronas Sdn Bhd (ITPSB) Board of Directors, representatives from other universities and UTP Vice Chancellor Professor Ts. Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib together with more than 2,000 parents and guests were also present at the ceremony.
Various events were organised in conjunction with the convocation ceremony. They were university social responsibility events such as UTP-Kledang Trail, Convo Ride (cycling competition) and Convo Run (running competition), Corporate Career Exposure and Convo Fest.
