UTP Signs MOU with Iqra University for Rigorous Academic-Research Networking

Seri Iskandar, 16 Jan - Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) and Iqra University (IU) Pakistan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen both institutions' research capabilities and build stronger academic reputation through rigorous academic-research networking.
Both parties will work together in the areas of staff attachment, joint collaborative research, joint research proposal submission, joint supervision of postgraduate studies and student exchange.
Present at the signing ceremony were UTP Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib, UTP Deputy Vice Chancellor Research and Innovation Prof Ir Dr M Shahir Liew and IU Dean Faculty of Engineering Sciences & Technology Prof Dr Kamran Raza.
The ceremony took place at UTP campus in Seri Iskandar.
According to Prof Dr Mohamed Ibrahim, UTP places great importance to engage with transdisciplinary and collaborative research with other institutions to help shape new generation of researchers and academics.
"We are constantly expanding and growing our network and collaborative efforts knowing that one of the keys for growth is networking with the right partners. Our goal is to become an internationally recognised partner of choice for industry and respected scientific community by the year 2025".
"Signing this MoU is an important step in maintaining a sustainable relationship with institutions in Pakistan. We hope this collaboration will also pave the way to attract more prospective Pakistani students to study in UTP and the Southeast Asian countries," he said.
Besides Iqra University, UTP also collaborates with other Pakistan's higher institutions such as Quaid-I-Azam University Islamabad, Hamdard University, University of Engineering and Technology Taxila, University of Peshawar, National Centre of Excellence Physical Chemistry, Punjab University, and National Engineering & Scientific Commission (NESCOM).
Pakistan contributes the highest enrolment of international students in UTP with 224 undergraduate and postgraduate students.
