Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Al-Ayen Iraqi University (AUIQ), signifying their commitment to foster global academic collaboration. The MoU underscores the shared dedication of both institutions to cultivate educational and research cooperation, driving mutual advancement and growth.
Signing the MoU were UTP Vice Chancellor Prof Ts. Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib and AUIQ Chancellor Prof Dr Shafik S. Shafik.
Joining them as second signatories were UTP's Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic Prof Ir Dr Hilmi Mukhtar, and Iraqi Cultural Consultant Assistant Prof Dr Ahlam Neama Lafta.
According to Prof Mohamed Ibrahim, “This collaborative efforts between UTP and an international institution, such as AUIQ, is pivotal in delivering world-class education on a global scale.
“We are enthusiastic about the journey that lies ahead and the transformative impact this collaboration will have on the academic landscape. The MoU signing is a testament to our vision of creating a global community of learners, researchers, and educators dedicated to pushing the boundaries of knowledge,” he added.
The collaboration between UTP and AUIQ is poised to bring forth a multitude of opportunities for both institutions. Under the MoU, they will collaboratively engage in student mobility programmes, fostering the exchange of ideas, cultures, and knowledge among students.
Furthermore, this partnership will provide students from both UTP and AUIQ with lectures, short courses, and training in scientific research methods, aimed at elevating their skills and competencies.
In addition, the staff of AUIQ will also gain a pathway that will allow them to pursue their Master's and PhD programmes at UTP in STEM areas as part of a comprehensive staff development programme. This initiative underscores the commitment of both institutions to foster staff’s professional growth by exposing them to novel teaching methodologies, cutting-edge research approaches, and innovative administrative practices from diverse institutions.
