Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) and Top Glove Sdn Bhd (Top Glove) have joined hands in a strategic collaboration aimed at nurturing talent and promoting research excellence.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony was held to commemorate this momentous partnership, marking a significant milestone for both institutions.
The MoU was signed by UTP Vice Chancellor Professor Ts. Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib and Top Glove Financial Controller Director Melissa Cheoh. The second signatories were Top Glove Group HR Deputy General Manager Dr Jessica Tang and UTP Dean Faculty of Engineering Associate Professor Ir Dr Rosdiazli Ibrahim.

The collaboration between UTP and Top Glove originated from the hosting of UTP internship students by Top Glove, where the exceptional potential exhibited by these students laid the foundation for further discussions and eventually led to the signing of the MoU.
One of the immediate outcomes of this collaboration is the establishment of a robust student internship programme. Top Glove has consistently welcomed UTP students to undergo eight months of comprehensive training as part of their internship experience.
Already this month, a diverse group of UTP students from Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology and Information Systems programmes have embarked on their internships at Top Glove, gaining valuable industry exposure and hands-on learning opportunities.
This collaboration goes beyond internships and extends to student recruitment and talent development initiatives, as well as various research and academic activities that will benefit both UTP and Top Glove.
UTP, driven by a vision to be a catalyst for groundbreaking research and knowledge dissemination, aims to emerge as an internationally recognised partner of choice for industries and esteemed scientific communities.
To achieve this goal, UTP understands the importance of forging fruitful partnerships, especially as Malaysia continues to develop cutting-edge technologies for the oil and gas industry and positions itself as the innovation hub in the Asia-Pacific region.
By leveraging each other's strengths, UTP and Top Glove aspire to cultivate a culture of innovation and excellence, creating a talent pool equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to meet the challenges of the evolving industry landscape.
