On Sunday 24th September 2023 in Galasa Caldwell, Ipoh, amidst celebration and fanfare, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Pertubuhan Rakan Komuniti Pendidikan Perak (PRKPP) to seal a partnership that was formed more than 5 years ago. The MOU was signed by Prof Ts. Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib, Vice Chancellor of UTP and YBhg Datuk Normah Hanum Dato Ibrahim, Pengerusi Pertubuhan Rakan Komuniti Pendidikan Perak (PRKPP).
PRKPP and UTP had been collaborating to carry out impactful outreach educational programmes involving schools, communities and government agencies with their joint-focused work in promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) and Literacy Education particularly through UTP’s signature ESTREAM WAVES Project. Under UTP’s University Social Responsibility (USR) aims, and through USR Education Pillar’s efforts, ESTREAM WAVES Project upholds UTP’s vision to provide creative and innovative education not just for its students, but for surrounding communities.
Present during the High-Tea event was YBhg Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr Jeffrey Cheah, Founder and Chairman of Sunway Group who witnessed the MOU signing, accompanied by YBhg Dato’ Mohamed Radzi Manan, Penasihat PRKPP and Encik Zulkafli Mohamed Mokhtar, Timbalan Pengarah, Sektor Pembangunan Murid.
