Dear Prof/Ir/AP/Dr/Ladies & Gentleman,

The 3rd International Symposium on Green and Sustainable Technology (ISGST 2019) was held on 23th – 26th of April 2019 in UTAR, Kampar, Perak. The ISGST 2019 aimed to bring together more than 200 leading experts in green and sustainable technology. The ISGST 2019 also provided a common forum for researchers, scientists, engineers and practitioners not only in Malaysia, but globally to present their works in the latest technological developments and applications of green and sustainable technology.

The visit to the conference target to further elaborate on the treatment of palm oil mill effluents for later bio chemicals harvesting, the researcher from UTAR, Dr. Wong Lai Peng is targeting on the solid particles originally from palm-based biomass. The solids are treated with sonication to break the particles or prevent the agglomeration of fine particles that trapped valuable bio chemicals such as lipid. Upon the treatment, the lipid is released and can be harvested. The conference provides a platform on the potential collaboration in research treating palm oil mill effluents prior to biochemical harvesting such as lipid for biofuel production and also will strengthen the research bonding between UTP and UTAR.

The conference was attended by five keynote speakers below (1) Prof. Dr. Hyoseop Woo from School of Earth Science and Environmental Engineering, Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology, Korea, (2) Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abhijit Chaudhuri from Department of Applied Mechanics, Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT - Madras), India, (3) Prof. Dr. Trong-Min Mon from Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, Tamkang University, Taiwan, (4) Prof. Dato' Dr. Alias Abdullah from Kullliyah of Architecture and Environmental Design, Universiti Islam Antarabangsa, Malaysia and (5) Prof. Dr. Hon Loong Lam from Universiti of Nottingham, Malaysian Campus.
